Hello,
I agree that some people treat all people and most of their peoples knowledge as expendable and reknewable. These businesses are those that rely most on empowerment (getting people to do more for less) and knowledge sharing (being free and easy with hiring and firing).
On the other hand quite a few companies have been using elements of KM for many, many years.
So, try telling a lot these good folk that if they can't come up with a quick and solid business case for continuing those practices (that they might not have even considered to be KM) that they should desist.
If I suggested this sort of "vodoo business strategy" to any of our own customers, their CEO's and CIO's etc. would kick my executive consultant butt from the board-room to the boardwalk.
