Denham... the more I read in this discussion the less convinced I am about the sanity of the fathers of KM. and... the one minute manager, really! The term understanding is both arbitrary and subjective and has no place in scientific (or business) inquiry.
As my teacher used to say, "intuition is a great place to start, but a lousy place to finish." Objective, measurable, concrete, behavioral terms only ... otherwise we waltz around each others bias and preconceptions. Remember the commuications filters... shannon/weaver the old basic communications model.
The purpose of Knowledge in the corporation is to enable human performance for the enhancement of profit ... end of story.
