Well, thanks for listening, now that I know someone read my posts... Yes, kM is good business, Yes, KM is in the best interest of the corporation, Yes, we must implement solutions to problems... BUT as Drucker said, "The first maxsim of management is productivity."

In a way it's like the cynical wag who, in describing the term business ethics said, "Business ethics fall at the first assault on profits."

Unless you have a cost benefit plan before implementing a KM project you may find yourself out on a limb without support. Money is the driver for every business activity... just ask the training department... since training is an expense and not an investment, managment is reluctant to invest in it ... only under extremem duress, and/or pressure does management spend money on training (this happens to be my field)

KM is sexy and you may sell it on the sex factor, but someones ego (Like CIO, or CEO) You may get funded that way, but in the end there had best be a profit outcome. If you start that way, your'e well abead of the game... consider this, no operating manager would dare ask his boss for an expenditure for an acquisition without a detailed ROI. Why should we expect any different treatment?
