Hi Larry,
The connection between KM and profit is not always that clear. Here some other reasons for getting involved with knowledge practices:
a) For survival! KM in particular customer feedback and business intelligence aspects can save or stave the day
b) For awareness and agility, the increased sharing and greater trust in commmunities of practice support agility, combat information overload and help with innovation
c) For learning. KM is closely tied to organizational learning, improving conceptual thinking and raising competencies.
d) For customer loyaly and service. Building brand awareness and market differentation.
e) For competitive & stategic advantage. Faster learning and improved innovation helps with reduced time to market, faster adaption to market shifts and improved ways to handle change.
